The Mazak Turning Center M-5 is a robust heavy-duty CNC lathe engineered for precise large-part machining. It supports workpieces with a maximum swing over bed of 610 mm (24.02 in) and machining diameters up to 580 mm (22.83 in). In addition, it features 2000U and 3000U bed lengths, and offers machining capacities of 2080 mm (81.89 in) and 2985 mm (117.52 in). This versatile large part CNC lathe is also ideal for demanding production needs. For example, it includes a double-walled, box-type bed with sand sealing to support the large capacity. This bed improves vibration absorption and durability for enhanced accuracy, stability, and extended tool life in challenging applications.

Smooth CNC Control with High-Torque Spindle

The M-5 turning center is equipped with a Smooth CNC control. With Mazatrol conversational programming, the control simplifies operation and reduces setup times by up to 75%. As a result, operators benefit from real-time monitoring, intuitive programming, and seamless integration with automation workflows. The machine’s 3-speed hydraulic gear spindle operates between 6–2200 rpm and delivers full power from 178 to 2200 rpm. As a result, it provides strong torque and cutting accuracy for machining large, tough workpieces with consistent force and precision.

Flexible Tooling for Complex Machining

The M-5 features a dual turret system for enhanced flexibility, reduced idle time, and improved throughput in complex machining operations. A 14-position octagonal drum turret at the front and a hexagonal boring turret at the rear allow a wide range of tooling options without interrupting workflow. In addition, its hydraulic tailstock includes a 100 mm quill, 14,700 N (1500 kgf) of thrust, and a clamping force of 78,400 N (8000 kgf). As a result, the machine ensures workholding stability demanding heavy-duty CNC lathe operations.
