Description
Engineering-Grade Material for Strong Composite Parts

Onyx is a high-strength carbon filled nylon filament designed for manufacturing environments that require reliable, dimensionally stable components. In addition, its carbon fiber reinforcement increases stiffness and tensile performance, enabling durable composite 3D parts that hold their shape under load. The material resists warping, cracking, and heat distortion, making it dependable for tooling, brackets, housings, and similar production tasks. Its matte black surface also reduces visible layer lines, which minimizes post-processing and speeds up deployment on the shop floor.

High-Performance Printing for Functional Components

The material prints with consistent accuracy due to its stable shrink rate and fine resolution. Onyx maintains a high heat deflection temperature, supporting deployments near equipment, engines, or fixtures exposed to elevated temperatures. Its low moisture absorption prevents swelling, ensuring that tight tolerances remain intact across repeated print cycles. As a result, Onyx allows engineers to produce durable composite 3D parts that mimic end-use performance without requiring machining or secondary processes.

Compatible with Continuous Fiber Reinforcement Systems

This engineering grade 3D filament is compatible with Markforged printers including the FX20™, FX10™, X7™, Mark Two™, and Onyx Pro™. In addition, these systems support Continuous Fiber Reinforcement (CFR), allowing engineers to embed continuous carbon fiber, Kevlar®, or fiberglass into an Onyx base. This combination transforms Onyx from a strong polymer into a material capable of replacing aluminum in many structural applications. This supports a consistent process for manufacturing high-strength, production-ready components with precise, reliable performance.
